Makanalani Paresa Marts

CHE Disability Program Facilitator

Makanalani Paresa Marts

Makanalani was born in Maui, Hawaii, but was adopted as a young child and grew up in New York. Her mother’s health challenges, including diabetes, a heart transplant, and multiple amputations, gave her a deep compassion for those living with disabilities. She moved back to Maui in 2019, and after her mother’s passing, rediscovered her faith and calling in Christ. Before joining the Global CHE Network, she served as a Bible and preschool teacher and worked with a local ministry serving the foster care community on Maui, including children affected by both trauma and disability. God has since called her to focus on global missions, where she now supports Jenna and Guido through GCN’s Disability Advocate Ministry, serving alongside them to equip and mobilize the church and CHE communities to create spaces of belonging and inclusion for persons living with disabilities.

Guido Schmid

Guido Schmid

CHE Disability Program Facilitator

Guido Schmid

Guido was born and raised in Germany where he learned the trade of woodworking and loved it! Guido moved to Arizona where he became a Christian and grew in his relationship with God. Two years later he survived a motorcycle accident which left him paralyzed from the chest down. Despite this, he learned how to not only live and continue his passion for woodworking with his disability, but also to use it for God's glory and to reach others with disabilities. Together with Jenna, they train CHE trainers to mobilize the church and community to establish their respective disability ministries around the world!

Jenna Schmid

Jenna Schmid

Jenna Schmid

Jenna was called by God to become a physical therapist and use her professional skills as a global missionary. In 2014, she met her husband, Guido, while serving together in Haiti with a disability ministry. They married in 2016. God sovereignly led the couple to the Global CHE Network through Terry and Jeannie Dalrymple where they learned the CHE strategy and are now working to see every CHE community create belonging for persons living with disabilities into church and community life.

Drs. Tom Chen and Heidi Wu

Million Village Challenge Catalysts

Drs. Tom Chen and Heidi Wu

Tom and Heidi are people who follow Isaiah’s example, “Here am I, Lord, send me!” Tom and Heidi made lifestyle changes in order to serve the Lord in missions. They both serve in their respective medical professions, Tom as a Christian Psychologist and Heidi as a Medical Doctor, but have set aside time to serve the Lord when the opportunity arises. They joined Terry last year at a Million Village Challenge Consultation and are now working to get consultations around the world organized. Through these gatherings, we pray that Community Health Evangelists will grasp the need for multiplication–beyond projects to movements!
